I broke up with Teflon about 12 years ago. Oh, it was a torrid love affair in college what with all the stir frys and omelets. But once I started reading some really scary health implications, I gave Teflon the boot. Teflon releases a chemical named PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid). There are measurable amounts of PFOA in the bloodstream of 95% of Americans. PFOA’s have been linked to cancer, birth defects in animals and infertility.
